A nice break from it all

No politics for today.  Just that I loved this movie.  It was so sweet! Haha. I give it a 9.50 / 10.00. And not to mention, the short animated movie that they showed before the show began (titled Presto) was just as good. Bravo Pixar! But just you wait till Suleiman The Lion is released. : )

And, and, and, have you bought your kuih raya yet?

50%

Yes, that’s the risk. Fifty percent that our country will be under some sort of emergency administration or another within a time frame of as little as 24 hours from my post to somewhere around October 13th (when the Dewan Rakyat – Malaysia’s Lower House Of Parliament – sits again) as the ruling Barisan Nasional attempts to thwart Anwar Ibrahim’s march to power. Hang on tight people. Things might, just might (And trust me, I really hope I am wrong. You have my permission to make effigies out of me and burn them if I am mistaken) get very nasty soon.

Malaysia United

Malaysia United

This picture which was taken from the blog of a fellow blogger (who’s really much much more famous than me and stuff) and which depicts a scene at the Kelana Jaya Stadium during a Pakatan Rakyat celebration for Malaysia Day (September 16th).

So many people, so many races and faiths standing together for a better Malaysia, a Malaysia where we’re not who we are because we’re Malay, Chinese or Indian but a Malaysia where we’re together as one, a single country, one King, one future together.

While at the time of writing, I can not guarantee that the Pakatan Rakyat will take over the central government of Malaysia (although it looks pretty likely now), the momentum is definitely building up.

Malaysia United! I’m proud to be a Malaysian.

Injury Time, Play Dirty

with 3 comments

I was cut off from the rest of the world for around 15 hours. Well no, I wasn’t held hostage or anything. Just that there was a buka puasa (breaking of fast) do at my work place and then due to the inevitable pigging out that followed, I feel dead asleep. As it was my turn to be on standby at 12, I continued staying there until my shift happened this morning.

With 16th September looming, one might thinking that the real action was going to happen on Tuesday and the days following that but no, was I so wrong. Looks like the BN-lead government realises that it’s injury time and since they’re trailing 0-3, they’ve decided to play dirty.

The arrest Seputeh MP and Selangor state Senior Exco member Teresa Kok Suh Sim, blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin and Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng reeks of political conspiracy and intimidation.

The worst (not that the other two are not as bad) was the arrest of Tan Hoon Cheng. Her crime? Reporting the racist words of the Scourge Of Malaysia (Datuk) Ahmad Ismail during the recent Permatang Pauh by-election which resulted them being published. It’s a sad day for Malaysia.

Anyway, this is the link to the news report in The Star :

Reputedly, MCA and Gerakan are flustered on her arrest as she just reported his words while the real “perpetrator” (using their words) is still set free. Well, honestly, I have to agree with many people who see MCA and Gerakan as spiness parties who keep dancing to UMNO’s lame music.

So it’s basically this now, BN is trailing 0-3 and it’s injury time. So what do you do? Arrest the referee, get some fans shot (with live bullets, mind you) and beat up the players of the opposing team.

Now all of Malaysia is really waiting for the 16th of September. Hopefully Anwar Ibrahim does really take over.  Go ahead Anwar, we’re waiting for you.

I was signing up on NTV7’s website (http://www.ntv7.com.my) and guess what? I was asked for my race again. And what makes it worse was that it was a cumpulsory field to fill up.

Oh come on people, what’s with you and the what-race-you-are-fetish? I mean seriously, can’t I just be a Malaysian and that be it? As I’ve written before, we can’t be living as states-within-a-state like we are now. We’re all Malaysians, same country, same flag, same land, same King, same whatever else we can think about.

Can we all grow up? Please?
